Enfield Council are currently working on improvements to this urban highway beginning in February 2007 with the specific aim of creating a cleaner, greener Enfield contributing to an economically successful and socially inclusive borough.

The Greening of the Hertford Road will include the opening up of Painters Lane Pocket Park and improvements to Holmsdale Tunnel Gateway.   These two sites are linked by their proximity and their strategic importance in defining this area of Enfield.

Haring Woods Associates approach will be to carry out a dynamic model of creative consultation Known as Perception AREA, working with artist Karen Lois Whiteread. This process will, in the first instance reveal how local people feel about these two spaces as well as the wider environment

HWA will deliver a creative and innovative public engagement process on the understanding and use of the Holmsdale Tunnel and Painters Lane Pocket Park. Exploring 'sense of place', use of, non use and aspirational use of the two sites.
